Arnold Air Society
To instill unit esprit de corps and individuality, the Holohan Squadron has created the following unit Heraldry items:
Squadron Creed
The Major William V. Holohan Squadron of the Arnold Air Society is dedicated to serve the United States Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps in its quest to train the best Air Force Officer Corp in the world. We are bound by honor to uphold our duties as officers in the Arnold Air Society. We will never forget Major William V. Holohan and others who have given their lives for our opportunity to freely serve our country, and in their memories, we will strive to be the best, train the hardest and accept only excellence in everything that we do.
Motto
“Una Vincemus" (As One We Conquer)
Training Motto
“Today I gave all I had because anything I kept I would have lost forever. "
Symbol
The coat of arms of the William V. Holohan Squadron consists of a green four leaf clover bisected by a two handed sword. The cloverleaf and sword are enveloped in the AAS wings (gold) and in an arched scroll below the wings is the word "HOLOHAN," in all capitals. In another scroll directly below the first will contain the motto (Una Vincemus). The background of both scrolls is dark blue and the lettering is gold. The clover stands for the Irish heritage of the squadron and of the fierce determination of the Celtic warrior spirit. The sword is to remind us that we are warriors, forged just like the sword, the wings are there to remind us of our commitment to the Society as a whole, and that we have started our journey into the proud corps of airmen. The name Holohan appears under this symbol to remember the name of a great hero, our champion, and the motto displays our motivation.
Nickname
The nickname of the Squadron is the Bronx Bombers, as a dedication to PAS Lt Col David Lay who flew the B-52, and our proximity to the NY Yankees (also named the Bronx Bombers).
Squadron Days of Importance
(1) Holohan Memorial Day (27 Aug): This is the day that Major William V. Holohan was finally laid to rest. The Squadron, at all cost, should try to commemorate the Major on this day at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, where he is buried.
(2) Founders Day (7 Feb): This is the day the squadron was founded. This day is commemorated with a festive, birthday-style party.
